Ingredients

  • 1 store-bought pie crust
  • 1 pound Below Zero asparagus spears, thawed and chopped into bite-sized pieces
  • 4 slices of bacon
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyere or Swiss cheese
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the bacon slices until crispy, then crumble them into small pieces.
  3. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped asparagus, onions, and garlic. Sauté until the vegetables are tender, about 5-7 minutes. Set aside to cool slightly.
  4. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and nutmeg (if using). Stir in the shredded cheese, crumbled bacon, and sautéed asparagus mixture.
  5. Pour the quiche filling into the pre-baked pie crust. Spread the ingredients.
  6. Place the quiche in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is golden brown.
  7. Allow the quiche to cool for a few minutes before slicing.
